I really enjoyed my experience at UCSD because it was a smaller sized university with all the amenities of a large one. The school buildings are completely updated and there is always activities going on, especially in the international house.
In bioengineering, UCSD ranks as one of the top and most selective universities. The staff at UCSD was as helpful as possible, but most of the difficulty came from my host university in England.
There is not much funding in general for international student in the United States from universities themselves. So it is best for you to look at outside/ third-party scholarships.
Workload was a little overwhelming at times in major courses, but general electives are a breeze. Probably spent no more than 10 hours a week on homework total. Profs and TAs are hard to reach but classmates are pretty good resources.
San Diego is an AMAZING city... not ridiculously big like New York or London, and not a complete mess like LA. Its got a great nightlife and amazing attractions. Its close to everything- LA, Vegas, and only 20 minutes from the Mexican border! The international house is teh area set up for international students and it is by far the most active part on campus. The diversity on campus is really greta
I believe my job prospects are a result of my studies and that the Alumni association is a pretty good resource for graduates. Its not free but it also allows you access to the schools careers website.
