Overall it has been a good experience so far. Its a good university with good faculty and great selection of subjects.Only thing lacking would be absence of good lab subjects, though there are a few of them. Its a good course but you really need to take a good look at it to see how it would help your career goals.
Its a fairly easy program to get into with the option of starting three times a year, fall, spring and summer. They don't require GRE only require TOEFL and undergraduate transcript evaluation done by WES for international applicants. Visa process can be a little difficult and long depending on the field or specialization chosen. Its better to apply much in advance of the semester you plan to join so that all formalities can be done well in time.
Unfortunately there are no scholarship or funding opportunities available for international students. But most students get part time work which does help financially depending on the kind of lifestyle you lead.
Course selection is extensive and you have variety of specializations to chose from but you can also take up courses from all of them and make up your own curriculum. For international students minimum three courses per semester are required out of which at max you can take one course online. Total 10 courses are required for the completion of the degree. Each on-site course has one lecture per week of three hours usually in the evening. Faculty mostly is quite well-read and helpful.
The campus is beautiful and its easy to move around. There are quite a few good apartment complexes nearby mostly inhabited by the students only. Mostly everything required for daily living is within 2 min walking distance. University also provides an escort service from evening throughout night covering upto 1 mile from the campus. Its easy to find accommodation from a studio apartment to 1/2 bar apt. Also many students get part-time work at the johns hopkins medical campus which is located in downtown Baltimore. There is a shuttle service from the Homewood campus (where the classes take place) to JHMI campus throughout the day making it easy to commute between the 2 campuses. Also there is a collegetown shuttle service which mainly connect JHU and few other colleges to areas downtown like Inner Harbor and Penn station etc.
I can't say much about the job prospects since I have just finished one semester. But I plan to pursue further studies and hope that this experience at JHU including the part-time job in a lab will help me in achieving my further goals.
