The courses were not so detailed but the thesis was very demanding. I was in a way fortunate to get a good professor as my thesis advisor. I would recommend Master of Science in Computer Engineering at Duluth since that department has lot of financial aid with them. One can easily get teaching assistantship in that department. Other good departments include Industrial management, chemistry.

As a part of common admission procedure, I had to give GRE, TOEFL for admission in the university. I had full financial assistance from the university therefore the VISA interview was very easy. They only asked which other universities did you apply for and what will you do after you have finished studies. To reach Duluth I would recommend for first time travelers to reach Minneapolis and then take flight from there. There is an airport at Duluth which has regular flights from Minneapolis. The university people help a lot throughout your initial days from picking you up from the airport to finding you an apartment to stay.

Electrical and computer engineering department has a limited funding.

The university has accommodation but its cost-effective to stay off-campus. The city bus service is free for university students and you can roam around Duluth for free. On-campus jobs are available easily. The international student club helps a lot. They are very very active. They arrange for shopping trips for students, parties, get-togethers, trips to places in Duluth etc. They also help in applying for SSN. The weather in Duluth is very very cold. It snows a lot. But once you get used to it its fine. Duluth is situated on the banks of lake Superior which is the largest freshwater lake in the world. In summers Duluth is one of the 10 most visited places in the States. It’s a really beautiful place. In winters you have to stay indoors but the international club arranges for winter activities such as skiing, sleigh ride etc.

Placement cell is not very active in the University but its the case of most of the universities in the US. Minneapolis is the nearest big city and hosts lot of career fairs. The university arranges for rides to these fairs. As far as my knowledge goes, the alumni dont help in placement.
