Academic advice I would say is if you are interested in a core chemistry do MS and PhD, having good scores, go ahead and apply to this University, you would love studying here.
Exams I took were GRE and TOEFL. For Preparation I had been to Visu Coaching centre. I needed an F1 Visa, my visa experience was short but was like rapid-fire questions, answering them successfully was good. It was more of analyzing, should say neither easy nor difficult. Getting tickets was easy, I flew through Air India. Experience was pathetic with no proper services. I didnt get any student fare. I flew from India to Chicago, later took flight to Nashville Airport; which is an hour away from the University. Baggage rules were 1 cabin bag, 2*23kgs luggages allowed. I didnt face any immigration issues. The University did offer Meet and Greet services.
As it is a MS program, TA/RA are offered.
I am very happy with my program, my professors are very good, there is very much scope of improvement. Lecture Halls are very good with sound and visual systems. Library is excellent with good number of books related to my subject.
I am staying in off-campus apartment. There are full sports facilities with a special sports center. No worries of the place I live, no violence at all. Night life is pleasant as the University is far away from a major city. Weather gets hard during winter as usual in any part of US, rest of all it is fine with the state. Well the Indian association conducts time to time parties for international students so its fun.
There is placement cell in this University. My course has moderate opportunity of getting jobs, once MS is done. There is campus placement process in place. Work permit process is a bit easy as the degree obtained has a very good value. There is no alumni society.
