The Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing offers a Master of Science in Nursing degree and post-master's certificates leading to education as a certified nurse-midwife, family nurse practitioner, and a women's health care nurse practitioner. The School was started in 1939 by the Frontier Nursing Service as a part of its demonstration project in the care of the mother and child in rural areas of Kentucky. The School is a private, non-profit, non-residential community-based, distance education graduate school.
